Book 1 of the Royal Road serial (24 chapters, 498 pages, first chapter 2025-06-16, latest update 2026-02-16, Monday updates): Martin Zheng, a hospice worker who gives his life to save a child, awakens in Death's embrace — Thanara, silver-haired guide of the long darkness. Declared an afterlife error, he is reborn as Mingxuan in the Elemental Realm, where sword-saints carve mountains and power is measured in the lives you can end. While rival sects chase immortality, he walks the forbidden Dao of Death, mastering the grace of endings to stand beside the woman no one dares to love. Slow-burn slice of life with occasional action and gradual progression (plot from verified Royal Road synopsis and JSON-LD).
