Jackal of the A Mine Lord Companion Tale With no prospects in life, Rothe doesn't think twice about accepting the unexpected offer to join the Jackals of the Waste. But it could hardly come at a worse time. In Deep Cut, unrest among young laborless dwarves grows even as human armies mass on the border. Far to the east, the ürsi besiege Glint. As the dwarven folk suffer, the Council cloaks itself in secrets, including the hidden existence of Black Fire. When war erupts, Rothe finds himself on a mission of assassination that might deliver both the Red Ridges and the Waste from destruction at the hands—and claws—of dwarven foes. This is a tandem story with The Mine Lord (recommended for reading at or after the chapter Jackal of the Waste) and follows the journey of Rothe Stonefoot until right before he meets Chargrim of Glint.
