At the District One Invitational, a rookie eSports team defied all odds and reached the finals. Their underdog story elevated them to worldwide acclaim and won them entry as the first ever players in the most exclusive VR game yet, Abidden. The Paragons never celebrated that semi-final victory - they lost a friend in that match. Ten years later Helena is the last remaining Paragon, and Abidden, though reduced to a shadow of its former glory, is the most streamed game in the world. Meanwhile James Sylvester, finally out of hospital, crippled with medical debt with his gaming licence revoked, competes in illegal slum arcades - until a high-profile job gives him temporary backdoor access to his blacklisted gaming account and an invitation that could change his life forever. A VR pirate LitRPG adventure (Book 2 of the Wildcards series).
