An Outcast in Another World

An Outcast in Another World is a LitRPG progression fantasy isekai about Rob, an ordinary college student who sacrifices himself when a pitch-black portal tries to take his best friend, finding himself torn away to Elatra — a hostile fantasy world ruled by levels, stats, progression, and bizarre video game logic. Stranded in the wilderness with nothing but a sword, he must survive a world that hates humans after a devastating war that killed over half the population, while a System alters his mind in unwanted ways. What begins as day-by-day survival becomes a weak-to-strong journey: Rob gains Levels, earns the respect of locals, gathers allies (Riardin's Rangers and the Deserters), and is drawn into conflicts against the Blight — an eldritch abomination — gods, the Dragon Queen Ragnavi, and warring nations. The series follows Rob as he carves out a place with his bare hands, survives, and then thrives, whether anyone wants him to or not, alongside side-story volumes following his best friend Jason defending Earth from Outsiders.
Progression: Progression is central and explicit via Elatra's System. (1) Levels & Stats: Elatra runs on video-game logic — Combat Classes, levels, stats, and skills that increase through combat and quests; Rob and others explicitly gain Levels, with high-Level Combat Class individuals summoned by the gods to stop the Blight in the Deadlands. (2) System & Mind Effects: The System imposes stat allocations and assaults the user's mind, altering personality/insanity — the series title theme — requiring characters to fight to stay sane while optimizing builds. (3) Weak-to-Strong Scaling: Rob starts powerless and continuously increases in importance without sidelining allies; victories are difficult but earned, with creative applications of abilities in high-octane fight scenes. (4) World Tiers & Eldritch Threats: Progression includes Corruption/Blight mechanics, Leader/Guild interactions (Dwarven, Merfolk, Harpy, Dragonkin territories), and late-game god-level alliances. Each volume centers on Level gains, new allies, and discovery of Elatra's history and System secrets.
