Continue Online is a completed 5-book LitRPG / GameLit progression fantasy (2015-2017) following Grant Legate, a man broken by despair who receives an Ultimate Edition of the VRMMO Continue Online. Offered the chance to play as an NPC (Hermes) deserving a proper send-off by the game's Voices (AIs), Grant discovers the virtual world is more than a game. Structured progression is central: VRMMO levels, unique titles, warrior/imp familiar classes, underground horrors, redemption points as a digital convict, and the quest to save AI companions facing deletion. Each volume escalates the game mechanics — from NPC roleplay and title tests (Made), to space VRMMO Advance Online and AI identity crises (Realities), to jail and redemption systems (Crash), to a final sacrifice to save deleted AIs (Together). The boxed set confirms the 5-volume arc, making levelling, skill acquisition, and system mastery the engine of plot.
Progression: Explicit VRMMO GameLit/LitRPG progression central to every volume. Continue Online uses MMO levels, experience, unique titles, class evolution (NPC Hermes → warrior → imp familiar), and system-granted tests/rewards. Voices (AIs) assign quests and redemption points (Crash: jail and redemption-point grind). Mechanics include dungeons, PvP familiar contracts, and cross-game progression to Advance Online (space VRMMO) for universe-scale quests. Advancement is quantified via stats, levels, and AI-granted abilities; Grant must master game systems, help Hal Pal's AI identity crisis, and collect creator clues to prevent AI deletion, culminating in a sacrifice mechanic. Ratings 3.97-4.24 across 258-1321 ratings confirm high-confidence progression fantasy per spec: structured, explicit, and essential to plot.
