Death After Death

DWinchester

When Simon dies, it turns out there's more to combat than lightning reflexes with his controller, and the path to becoming a hero is more brutal than he can imagine as he descends into The Pit. Death after Death is a dark, time-loop isekai with roguelike elements that explores common tropes in a different light — a story all about character development where the protagonist improves slowly but surely, death after death after death, through repeated descents into a deadly dungeon. Updates Monday, Wednesday, Friday on Royal Road.

Progression: Central roguelike dungeon + death-loop progression. The Pit is a multi-floor dungeon that the protagonist must descend level by level (Level One, Level Two, etc., mapped to chapter titles). Death is not final: each death resets Simon to an earlier point (time-loop/roguelike), retaining memories, combat knowledge, and incremental skill growth so he can improve slowly but surely across loops. Advancement is explicit: floor-by-floor clearance, level completions, achievement unlocks, threads of magic discovered, titles/levels within The Pit, and soul/bond mechanics. Royal Road tags include Progression, Gamelit, Loop and Summoned Hero; the narrative engine is repeating The Pit with retained progression — classic structured advancement where every death is a rung upward.
