Defier of Fate
J P Koenig
Defier of Fate is a Strong-to-Stronger Progression Fantasy following archmage Taliesin, who survives his world's apocalypse by being cast into the Void and glimpsing the Akashic Records — the source code of reality. Stripped to fragments of his former might and pulled into a new world on the brink of Ragnarok, he must reclaim his strength tier by tier, mastering Akashic-derived magic, forging alliances, and defying Fate itself. Structured as Book One (45 chapters, epilogue completed July 2025), the serial tracks his reconstruction from depleted archmage to god-surpassing power through explicit magical reclamation and system-quantified advancement.
Progression: Strong-to-Stronger archmage reclamation central and explicit. Mechanism: (1) Akashic Records mastery — Taliesin has glimpsed the foundations of reality that grant gods their life and mortals their power, providing a tiered magical theory ladder (Void → Akashic → divine/mortal power sources) that gates higher magic; (2) Fragmented might reclamation — starts with 'fragments of his former might' and must reclaim strength, with chapter titles marking progression (Akashic Records → Fate → Empyreal Staff → Smite/Shatter → Celestial Retribution); (3) Gamelit/Progression quantified advancement — Royal Road genres explicitly tag 'progression' + 'gamelit', cover filename 'strong-to-stronger-prog', Reddit r/litrpg describes 'Strong to Stronger Progression Fantasy featuring an archmage that will surpass the very limits of magic', and chapter progression shows levels/systems in text; (4) Alliance and kingdom-building tiers — forging alliances and political defiance as parallel progression ladders tied to magical growth; (5) Fate defiance ladder — narrative frame of defying Fate itself, with Void → Ragnarok → Twilight of the Gods as escalating threat tiers. Every arc reclaims a measurable step toward god-surpassing magic.
