Demesne
Shadow Crystal Mage
Out on the frontier of a new continent, the wizard Lori and her group of settlers try to build a community for themselves in a land actively hostile to intelligent life. With their wits, their will, and their newly built Dungeon to protect them against the Iridescence, they should be fine. If they can survive the lack of infrastructure. And the supply shortages. And other settlements poaching their people. And idiots who don't get exactly what having to settle somewhere entails. And dragons... A slice-of-life fantasy story about a wizard, her dungeon-in-progress, and their frontier town.
Progression: Explicit Dungeon Core and demesne-binding progression central to the entire narrative. Lori is a wizard who claims a Demesne and binds/expands a Dungeon core that wards her settlement against the lethal Iridescence permeating the wilds. Advancement is structural and measurable: expanding the demesne's claimed territory, growing and upgrading the Dungeon's rooms and defenses, increasing magical capacity and binding strength, and developing infrastructure that enables survival against increasingly hostile incursions (supply chains, anti-Iridescence wards, dragon threats, rival settlements). Tags on Royal Road explicitly include 'Progression' and 'Dungeon Core' alongside 'Kingdom Building' and 'Strategy', with progression arcs revolving around dungeon evolution, wizardry mastery, and community power scaling.
