Eldritch Exorcist
Hastum
There isn't just a grain of truth behind superstition — it's a boulder, and it's about to roll onto the world. Humanity has forgotten the ancient ways of magic, ritual, and the occult as mana disappeared over millennia; once-powerful creatures are now dismissed as cryptids and shadow organizations are conspiracy theories. Samuel, last scion of a once-infamous wizard family famed for strange deals with eldritch gods, drifts as a bored young exorcist clearing squeaky floors and drafty houses, dreaming of old arcane prowess. Then chaos returns: cryptids crawl from hidden lairs, Ouija boards summon real demons, and college haunted-house parties become true horrors as arcane power revives — a finite resource locked in vaults of those who remember. Amid the slow descent of society into chaos, Samuel sees opportunity to restore his family's dark ways, while an ancient conspiracy and the war that tore the world of magic apart stirs — a war ended by his ancestors.
Progression: High-confidence progression fantasy per Royal Road genre tags (Progression, LitRPG, Urban Fantasy). Structured magical advancement is central via an extensive knowledge/occult/ritual system: progression is measured by mastery of ancient rituals, occult lore, and eldritch bargains rather than numeric levels. Samuel, heir to a wizard lineage bound to eldritch gods, advances by recovering forgotten incantations, completing increasingly dangerous exorcisms and paranormal investigations, and deepening pacts with otherworldly entities — each success unlocks more dangerous, higher-tier rituals and expands his finite mana/arcane resource pool. LitRPG elements are diegetic (part of the world, not a floating System) but provide clear tiers: novice exorcist → ritualist → warlock of eldritch contracts, with escalation from minor ghost clearings to Lovecraftian abominations and shadow-spawn. Reviews explicitly describe it as a progression story with extensive powering-up and an in-depth magic system.
