Idiot's Paradox

Taylor Colt

In 365 days only the top-rated 1% will survive. Logan was trying to kick back with a couple of beers on his dock when the System Integration transformed his world into a sci-fi apocalypse, giving him powers, levels, and impossible messages. The entity known as 'the System' has deemed humanity a plague and blows up gas-powered cars on day one, vaporizes planes on day two, and unleashes mutated monsters intent on killing everything in their path. The System wants Logan to advance and grow — only the top-rated will live. Labeled an idiot by the System itself, Logan works out how to manipulate his new world, using baseball bats with nails, cleavers and even a weed wacker. Good at killing, protective of his sister and her kids, he will show the System what an idiot can really do. A LitRPG apocalyptic adventure following Logan's quest for power to manipulate the System that manipulates the little guy, balancing humor with gruesome reality.

Progression: Central explicit LitRPG System progression. The apocalyptic System Integration grants all survivors levels, attributes, powers, ratings and rankings; power is quantified via stat increases, attribute tournaments and battlefield tournaments. The narrative engine is ranked survival — in 365 days only the top 1% rated survive, forcing constant advancement. Protagonist Logan is labeled 'idiot' by the System but learns to manipulate its rules, grinding levels from Very Weak to OP via slow, measurable progression through mutated monsters, undead gestating minions and system challenges. Progression is reinforced by bonded powers (a murderhobo octopus companion and a sentient weapon with bonded abilities), 24-hour attribute and battlefield tournaments, and explicit System messages tracking growth. Every arc is driven by level-ups and rating climbs toward the 1% cutoff.
