Rune Seeker
J.M. Clarke & C.J. Thompson
Hiral is the Everfail, the weakest person on the floating sky-island of Fallen Reach. Everyone is born with sun-powered magic channeled through tattoos, but Hiral alone cannot channel it despite relentless training and study. In a moment of danger he unlocks an Achievement — [Access a Dungeon to receive a Class-Specific Reward] — his first and perhaps last chance for real power. The dungeons lie in the wilderness below the flying islands humanity inhabits, where fallen civilizations, strange monsters and deadly secrets await. Joined by friends and party members, Hiral descends, survives, and begins forging his own path to power. The series follows his weak-to-strong ascent across apocalyptic battles, ancient Fallen enemies, and world-ending threats like the Raze and the Enemy.
Progression: Explicit, central LitRPG progression where advancement is the engine of plot. System is achievement- and dungeon-driven: achievements grant Class-Specific Rewards, unique classes, skills, and runes. Power quantified via formal Ranks (Everfail/ungifted → C-Rank where parties can crush armies → A-Rank required to face entities like Vorinal) and level-like growth. Detailed LitRPG system includes unique classes, skills, dungeons, achievements, loot, survival and evolution mechanics. Magic is sun-powered and tattoo-channeled; Hiral's progression is rune-based (Rune Seeker) with dungeon clears granting permanent stat/skill upgrades. Narrative tracking: dungeon wilds, hunger of the dead, ancient Fallen powers, Cradle of Tomorrow trials, Black Gates, and Raze invasions — each arc demands rank-ups and new skills. Reviews confirm 'weak-to-strong progression into power and a detailed LitRPG system with unique classes, skills, dungeons, achievements' and 'at nearly C-Rank they can crush armies,' making structured advancement central and explicit.
