The Runic Artist
Ellake
Nate is a kid from Sydney, Australia who spends his free time indulging in his one true love – art, graffiti specifically – until his hobby catapults him into a new world filled with danger and magic. Alone in a forest that is clearly not on Earth, he must learn to navigate this new world and the System that governs it. Armed with nothing but a penknife and a Legendary Class (The Runic Artist), Nate conquers dungeons, discovers runes, battles enemies, and makes new friends while torn between returning to his old life and making a new home in a world filled with magic. The series follows his weak-to-strong journey through the Adventurer's Guild, System Challenges, and the Etruan Royal University as his growth draws the attention of powerful enemies.
Progression: System-governed progression is central and explicit. The world operates on a LitRPG System with quantified levels, stats, and a Legendary Class (The Runic Artist) centered on rune crafting and discovery. Advancement is gated by Adventurer Ranks (including Silver-Ranked tier verified in Book 2 blurb), System levels, System Challenges, dungeon conquering, and formal competition (Guild Tournament for entry to the Etruan Royal University). Each volume foregrounds Nate's goal to 'rise up through the levels of the System' and 'learn everything he can' about magic and the System, with tournament arcs, dungeon delves, and rank-based matchups determining access and survival. Rune discovery and crafting serve as the class-specific progression vector alongside combat leveling. Later books add university-based training, war with Asmuisil, and Wild Realms trials. Verified via Goodreads blurbs: Book 1 emphasizes System governance and Legendary Class; Book 2 specifies Silver-Ranked tournament and leveling; Books 3-5 describe university advancement, Ducal House threats, and Wild Realms/Heartlands System-interfered progression.
