The Last Horizon
Will Wight
Archmage Varic Vallenar casts a grand spell to empower himself with the magical abilities of his alternate selves, gaining power greater than any wizard in galactic history plus memories of six gruesome deaths. Knowing apocalyptic threats loom — sun-eating extra-dimensional insects, shadowy secret organizations, genetically enhanced alien super-soldiers, ruthless megacorporations, and hordes of cyborg undead — Varic seeks the mythical starship The Last Horizon, an invincible vessel of heroes made to battle galactic threats. Across four volumes, Varic assembles the crew: The Captain, The Engineer (Mell the master Aether Technician), The Knight (Raion Raithe), and The Pilot (Omega), each facing escalating foes like Starhammer who grows stronger every battle, the Perfected, Solstice, and the ravenous D'Niss.
Progression: Will Wight Progression — Alternate-Self Archmage Empowerment & Crew Role Mastery. Central ladder is Varic Vallenar's grand spell that stacks the magical abilities and memories of six alternate selves, granting exponential growth in spell mastery and galactic-scale wizardry. Each volume corresponds to a crew-role advancement: Captain (command and archmage spellcraft), Engineer (Aether Technician mastery — Mell's aether-tech ranks), Knight (martial and reputation progression — Raion Raithe's knightly challenges), and Pilot (vengeance-driven flight and Zenith Device tiers). Antagonist Starhammer demonstrates explicit battle-survival progression — every survival makes him stronger, creating an escalating power ceiling that forces the crew to advance faster. Additional tiers include Iron Legion tech, Perfected flawless soldiers, Solstice's shadow organization hierarchy, and Zenith Devices that gate power.
