Threadbare
Andrew Seiple
Threadbare is a twelve-inch-tall teddy-bear golem, magically animated as a failed experiment and discarded by his maker. Saved by a little girl named Celia, the tiny construct must learn to be a hero despite being very bad at it. Across six volumes, Threadbare levels up, learns skills, gains a voice, masters dungeons, battles undead, raccoon monsters, tyrant kings, bunny pirates, wendigo queens and hidden Players, while Celia grows up and forges her own brutal path. The saga expands to unify three series — Threadbare, Blasphemy Online and Small Medium — culminating in a world-threatening corruption that only the fluffy heroes can stop.
Progression: Explicit central LitRPG progression. Threadbare begins as an animated teddy-bear golem with System stats, levels, skills, jobs and crafting recipes. Advancement is quantified via gaining levels, unlocking new skills (e.g., voice, crafting, combat), clearing dungeons of monsters, raising resistances and acquiring loot. The world of Cylvania uses System-driven classes and skill levels; each volume tracks dungeon progression, tiered monster encounters (raccoon monsters, undead towns, eldritch tentacle villains), and party growth including Celia's own level and skill path. Later volumes add job progression, airship and pirate faction tiers, and Player-level threats, with the final volume tying three progression tracks together. Reviews and descriptors confirm 'learn skills, gain levels, and survive horrible predicaments' and 'access to all those fun skills he couldn't use before' as the engine of plot, making structured advancement central.
