Unbound
Nicoli Gonnella
Felix's life on Earth had become a series of dead-end jobs, ruined relationships and rotating apartments smaller than most postage stamps. When given the chance to choose between risking his life or walking away from a deadly encounter, he doesn't hesitate - and moments before his untimely demise he is snatched from Earth and thrust into a magical world known only as 'The Continent'. Empowered by the System, he learns he can strengthen himself through combat and dedication. To survive he'll have to push himself beyond his limits, or fall to the monsters all around him. What begins as a desperate scramble for survival becomes a continent-spanning saga of Strongholds, Territories, Primordials, gods and Unbound - those few souls the System has marked as free from its constraints. Across twelve volumes Felix evolves from Initiate to Master and beyond, gathering allies, building a Territory of Nagast, and confronting the Hierocracy, the Maw, and the gods themselves.
Progression: Explicit LitRPG/GameLit System is central to every arc and foregrounded on System screens. The Continent's System grants numeric Levels, Experience (via killing monsters, quests, Territorial conquests), and expendable stat points. Attributes are tripartite: Body (Strength, Vitality, Endurance), Mind (Intelligence, Willpower, Perception), Spirit (Affinity, Resonance, Essence) with derived stats (Health, Mana, Stamina). Skills and Spells level independently through use (e.g., Sovereign of Flesh, Cardinal Beast, Mantle of the Long Night) and evolve at thresholds; Titles and Boons (Primordial Maw, etc.) grant permanent modifiers. Power is gated by Tiers: Initiate (0-25), Adept (26-50), Master (51-75), Grandmaster (76-100), Paragon and beyond - each Tier unlocks new Skill ranks, Attribute caps, and Formation slots. Domains, Aspects, and Sigils are refined through meditation and combat trials. Stronghold/Territory progression (Foglands -> Nagast -> Ahkestria) adds settlement management where building upgrades require levelled Crafting and Inscription Skills. Every power jump is measured via updated character sheets, tier promotions, and System notifications - progression is the primary driver of plot and conflict.
