Unchosen Champion

JaceVAmor

When mana arrives on Earth, Coop finds himself isolated on a tropical island with a historic fort, a former lighthouse keeper facing the System apocalypse alone. His only viable path to survive is to claim a civilization shard and level up. Riding out the apocalypse on the island is no vacation — he must carefully select a class, commit to progression, grind thousands of monsters, compete on the System's leaderboards, and upgrade his settlement to represent the factionless. The title comes from being unchosen, not initially sponsored by a galactic faction like many humans and animals were. A fantasy LitRPG progression series currently on Royal Road (300+ chapters) with a revenant class, solo progression, and light settlement building, compared by readers to Defiance of the Fall, Primal Hunter, and Path of Dragons. Goodreads description (stripped:true): 'Riding out the apocalypse on a tropical island isn't exactly a vacation. When mana arrives on Earth, Coop finds himself isolated in paradise with only one real option to survive. He needs to claim a civilization shard and level up. Coop maximizes his chances by carefully selecting a class and committing to progression. He\u2019ll need to grind thousands of monsters to compete on the system\u0027s leaderboards while upgrading his settlement to represent the factionless.'

Progression: High-confidence System apocalypse progression, central and explicit. Mana arrives on Earth and transforms it; survivors must claim a civilization shard and level up via the System. Protagonist Coop carefully selects a class (revenant) and commits to progression — grinding thousands of monsters, earning XP, and climbing the System leaderboards. Settlement progression via upgrading his fort/island settlement to represent the factionless faction. Class-based advancement, monster grinding, questing, and civilization shard mechanics provide measurable tier advancement. Royal Road reviews confirm solo progression focus, light settlement building secondary, with consistent 'progress quickly' via starting circumstances and willingness to grind. Compared to LitRPG standards (Defiance of the Fall, Primal Hunter), the system is not cosmetic but the engine of every arc.
