Battle Through the Heavens
Tian Can Tu Dou
In a land where no magic is present, where the strong make the rules and the weak must obey, Xiao Yan was once a genius youth of the Xiao Clan. After losing his Dou Qi powers at age 11, he is scorned as trash. When his mother's memento, a mysterious ring housing the spirit of the former Dou Emperor Yao Lao, reactivates his potential, Xiao Yan embarks on a relentless path of cultivation. With alchemy, flame mastery, and fierce determination, he climbs the Dou Qi ranks to reclaim his honor, uncover the disappearance of his mother, and challenge the heavens themselves. The original xianxia classic that defined the genre, spanning Dou Zhi Qi through Dou Di.
Progression: Xianxia Dou Qi (Battle Qi) cultivation ladder central to all power. Ranked progression: Dou Zhi Qi (Qi Disciple) 1-9 stages → Dou Zhe (Dou Disciple) → Dou Shi (Dou Practitioner) → Da Dou Shi → Dou Ling → Dou Wang → Dou Huang → Dou Zong → Dou Zun → Dou Sheng → Dou Di (Battle Emperor). Each major rank has 1-9 stars, with qualitative breakthroughs requiring elixirs, Heavenly Flames (e.g., Fallen Heart Flame), and Dou Techniques (Xuan, Di class). Xiao Yan progresses from crippled 3rd-stage Dou Zhi Qi through alchemical training under Yao Lao, absorbing Heavenly Flames to evolve his Flame Mantra, advancing rank by rank across volumes (Vol 1: Chapters 1-99 covers Dou Zhi Qi recovery; Vol 5: Chapters 400-499 reaches Dou Wang; later volumes to Dou Di). Yao Lao's alchemy system (pill tiers) provides parallel crafting progression. Explicit levels drive every conflict and status hierarchy.
