Quantum Cultivation
J.C. Kang
In a cyberpunk future where humanity has edited out cultivation genes and stratified into genetically perfected XHumans and menial Purebreds, 800-year-old cultivator Ryu crosses over from the World of Rivers and Lakes to find a lost temple, while hacker Aya perceives the EtherCloud as feudal Japan. Together with Purebred janitor Ken, they discover XHumans' perfection came at the cost of cultivation ability — and Ken's unedited genome may let him surpass them. A standalone Xianxia/Cyberpunk fusion that pits mythical martial cultivation against authoritarian tech, spirit beasts, and alien invaders.
Progression: Explicit Daoist cultivation system based on Five Elements (Wu Xing) and Eight Trigrams (Bagua) theory, written by an acupuncturist/Wing Chun sifu. Purebreds retain genes for Qi cultivation while XHumans have edited them out; progression is via Qi cultivation, martial forms, meditation, and Dual Cultivation methods, with clear power steps from menial Purebred to Qi-wielding cultivator capable of fighting power-armored peacekeepers and spirit beasts. Ryu trains Ken and Aya as disciples, with measurable gains in martial skill, Qi capacity, and Dao comprehension; cultivation grants extended lifespan, supernatural martial power, and spirit-beast combat ability. System includes detailed breathing, posture, and movement diagrams noted by reviewers.
