Street Cultivation

Sarah Lin

In the modern world, qi is money. The days of traveling martial artists and mountaintop masters are over. Power is controlled by corporations, modernized martial arts sects, and governments. Those at the bottom of society struggle as second class citizens in a world in which power is a commodity. Rick is a young fighter who doesn't dream of immortality or becoming the strongest — just of building a better life for himself and his sister, who suffers from a spiritual illness. But in a society where qi (lucrium/lucrim) is currency and advancement is bought, corporate-sponsored tournaments, job tiers, and wilderness trials force Rick through relentless, quantified cultivation progression from the streets to the global elite.

Progression: Explicit modern-xianxia cultivation progression is central and continuously foregrounded. Power is quantified as qi/lucrim — literally money — with spiritual cores, cultivation stages, and corporate sect ranks gating advancement. Corporations, modernized martial arts sects, and governments monopolize techniques, tournaments, and jobs that award qi and status. Progression is tracked via multi-tier tournaments, wilderness trials, sponsor-backed contests across the world, and job/sect hierarchies that gate higher realms and resources. Rick advances from street-level fighter through ranked duels, wilderness survival, and elite global contests, with his sister's dark spiritual power evolving in parallel. Every volume is structured around training → tournament/trial → qi breakthrough → corporate/sect rank advancement, with monetized qi, inherited vs. earned cores, and dueling culture making every gain explicit and measurable.
