Every thousand cycles, the 108 gods select their avatars among the most deserving champions of the galaxy for a grand game to decide who will next bear the crown of archon. This time, however, even the mightiest tremble, for the twin arbiters have entered the fray. Space has picked Lilth Seranne Kerentis: empress, conqueror, warrior, and scholar. Time has picked Steve, a 25-year-old cello player from London. Thing is, Steve cannot lose.
Progression: Avatar-based divine power progression: 108 gods each empower a mortal avatar for a grand tournament to decide the next archon. The Time-backed protagonist Steve progresses from an ordinary 25-year-old cellist to a contender against empresses and conquerors via repeated time-loop iterations (very weak to very strong, explicitly stated by the author), developing affinities, a Soul World, and Law comprehension (chapter titles: Affinities, Soul World, Law).
