The Augment's Code
Zane Emerson
A decade ago the Augmentation Array appeared in the sky and began granting ordinary people superpowers. The gifted — Augments — battle globally for control. Nate Mercer, a system-picked member of the Tenth Wave gifted a personal AI and a choice of 47,000+ powersets, enters Infinite Ascension, the most exciting game on Earth, rising from street-level fighter (Loophole) to city-saving Augment while uncovering the conspiracy behind the game's mechanics across three books.
Progression: Superhero LitRPG with an explicit game system: the Augmentation Array wraps the planet and selects ordinary humans as Augments in successive Waves (protagonist Nate Mercer is system-picked for the Tenth Wave). Each Augment receives a personal AI, a choice from 47,000+ powersets, and plays Infinite Ascension — a phased global game (Phase One, Phase Two) with missions, skill sets, abilities trained and leveled through combat, team alliances (Fortune's Cadence, Wildcard Assembly), and a fate leaderboard tying advancement to video-game logic. Powers grow book over book (street-level fighter to time control), satisfying structured advancement.
