The Mana Arts Saga
David Musk
Crafter-level progression fantasy where hacker Akari Zeller, a Bronze-rank orphan with no family or connections, hacks the dark web to steal the secrets of mana arts in a world where mana artists rule and advancement is gatekept by state-approved academies. Denied formal training, she decrypts forbidden techniques to break through Bronze to Silver and beyond, while revelations about her island's isolation and the true nature of spacetime unfold. With classmate Kalden and allies, Akari's earned progression through ranks, aspects, and mind-diving powers drives a continuous arc of advancement, academy competition, and world-shattering discovery across four volumes where structured mana progression is central to every arc.
Progression: Explicit tiered mana-arts progression is central and continuously foregrounded. Society ranks mana artists by tier — Bronze (lowest), Silver, Gold, and higher lord-tier ranks — with foundation-stage caps in isolated regions versus common higher tiers elsewhere. Advancement requires growing mana reserves, aspecting pure mana to elements (water, dream, etc.), mastering techniques (projectiles, shields, illusions), and breaking tiers via pressure on the mana core and personal revelation, including rare dual-core potential. Akari's progression is earned: hacking dark-web archives for forbidden breakthrough methods, training to force Bronze-to-Silver evolution, and later mastering aspects at Koreldon University. Reviewers confirm 'continuous sense of earned progression, paired with revelations' and academy-style rank climbing; Goodreads describes 'path to power is a well-kept secret' that Akari unlocks through technology and relentless training. Each volume's arc is gated by rank examinations and war games.
