The Weirkey Chronicles
Sarah Lin
Theo Spencer was betrayed and murdered by his mentor on the brink of ascending to the highest levels of power in the Nine Worlds — a multiverse of connected realms filled with sublime materials, monstrous storms, and soulcrafting. Reborn as an old man in a new body on Earth, he finds a second chance to return to the Nine Worlds with all the knowledge of his first life. Starting anew in the safe world of Tatian and then the brutal realm of Deuxan, Theo must rebuild his soulhome, forge alliances, and unravel the conspiracy that killed him while confronting wars, sublime material monopolies, and the politics of the Authority and beyond. Each volume follows Theo, his companions Nauda and Fiyu, and unfolding interdimensional threats toward ever-higher stages of soulcrafting.
Progression: Explicit and central soulcrafting progression. Every practitioner builds a soulhome — an inner spiritual construct — that must be developed through systematic advancement: awakening, building Foundations, fortifying with sublime materials (rainsteel, bloodcrete, skyvenom, etc.), and ascending through named tiers including Authority and higher Authority-tier ascensions. Progression is quantified via Authority, dominion over sublime materials, and mastery of specific materials (e.g., storm, stone, blood) that grant tangible combat and crafting abilities. Advancement requires harvesting rare materials, surviving dangerous environments like the Chasm of Lamentations and the Wakespire, completing soulcrafting rituals, and winning duels/trials; failure stalls or destroys the soulhome. Each book represents a distinct power threshold and material tier, with clear measurable gates (e.g., soul rank, material exhaustion, Authority ascension) that drive plot, warfare, and politics across all Nine Worlds.
