Thresholder
Alexander Wales
Perry is a Thresholder, one of many who can step through portals into entirely new worlds across the vast multiverse. Each portal leads to a distinct reality — advanced technology with power armor and micro reactors, knights and wizards with magical swords, vampires on rainy streets, martial arts valleys with mystical sects, and mobile cities fleeing an encroaching sun. Able to carry ideas, technology, and magic between worlds, Thresholders have outsized impact, shaping civilizations. Perry travels with fellow Thresholder Maya Singh, mastering werewolf abilities, martial arts techniques from Moon Gate, and forbidden techniques while confronting rival Thresholders, sect politics, cosmic battles between godlike beings, and the crew of the SS Farfinder who have been tracking him across worlds to unite the multiverse.
Progression: Multiverse Thresholder Progression with explicit tiered advancement. Core mechanism is portal traversal between worlds: each Thresholder gains new abilities, technology, and magic by importing them across realities. Quantified progression includes: werewolf transformation and mastery, martial arts sect ranks (Moon Gate mystical abilities, Worm Gate rivalry), forbidden techniques, reactor and power-armor tech tiers, and cosmic power scaling. Each book escalates Perry's personal power (technology → magic → martial arts → planetary-scale engineering) and introduces higher sect ranks, forbidden techniques, and godlike cosmic battles. Allied Thresholder Maya Singh provides parallel progression. Verified via Goodreads series descriptions noting 'fighting monsters and villains while gathering power', 'master both his werewolf abilities and the politics of the martial arts sect', 'race to grow stronger through forbidden techniques', and 'sinister forces gather' as gates to next tier.
