Will of the Immortals
Jay Krauss
What if a 16th-century German knight were thrust into a world of magic, gods, and monsters? Leon Jäger, a stoic knight who lives by a code to repay kindness with ambrosia and slights with total destruction, is pulled by an unexplainable force into a foreign world where magic flows and monsters roam. Struggling to comprehend powers beyond his imagining, he must master the mystical art of Qi cultivation while hiding his abilities from those who might exploit them. Blending western fantasy drama with Chinese cultivation philosophy and LitRPG adventure, the series follows Leon as he carves his place without losing himself, navigating dungeons, tournaments, elven politics, divine games, and existential threats like the Blight across continents.
Progression: Central, explicit cultivation + LitRPG hybrid. Leon cultivates Qi via a System interface that bridges explanation: Foundation Building (Early to Peak in days with permanent buff), thresholds, meditation, dantians, Qi Deviation (dangerous imbalance threatening cultivation and sanity), Qi Compression realm breakthrough, Affinities (main Affinity suppressed in wilderness arc), and Domain manifestation (Book 6). Power quantified via System stats, levels, skills, spell/skill acquisition at silly rate per reviews, and dungeon loot. Cultivation realms gate advancement; each book pushes a realm or concept: Steel Foundations establishes Qi cultivation basics; Runic Ocean deepens Qi and introduces Wavecrest city politics; Ironheart Crucible requires breakthrough to Qi Compression; Spirit's Call navigates elven bloodline/spirit purity progression; Stormbound Path forces mastery of unfamiliar storm affinity under suppressive ambient Qi; Jade Dominion tests Domain capabilities inside a god's ziggurat; later books escalate against Spirit Beasts, Famine/Blight, and demihuman conflicts. Reviews note 'master the mystical art of Qi cultivation,' 'hit points,' 'skills that level,' and 'Foundation Building Peak in 2 days,' confirming structured, tiered advancement drives plot.
